Recipe
Ingredients: * 1 cup broccoli florets * ½ cup cauliflower florets * 1 medium onion, cut into 8 pieces and petals separated * ½ cup green beans, cut into long strips * 1 cup mushrooms, quartered * ½ cup carrots, cut into long strips * ½ cup bell peppers, cut into squares * 1 Tbsp garlic, finely chopped * 1 tsp ginger, grated * 2 Tbsp oil * Salt to taste * 1 tsp pepper * 1 tsp red chili flakes * 1 Tbsp honey * 1 Tbsp sesame seeds * 1 tsp dark soy sauce * 1 tsp cornstarch/cornflour * 1 tsp oil
Instructions:
- Steam or microwave the broccoli, cauliflower, beans, and carrots to par-cook.
- In a pan, heat the oil, add the garlic and ginger. Fry until light pink. Add the onion and fry until translucent. Add the mushrooms and sauté for a minute.
- Add all the other vegetables, salt, and pepper. Sauté on high flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the red chili flakes.
- Make a slurry of cornstarch, soy sauce, honey, and oil.
- Add this to the vegetables and mix well. If needed, sprinkle a Tbsp of water.
- Sprinkle the sesame seeds.
- Serve hot with toast, steamed rice, or noodles.
Cooking Tip: The vegetables that need to be par-boiled can be boiled or steamed ahead of time.
