This recipe is for an old-style apple pie, made in a simple and easy way. The apples are peeled and sliced thinly, then coated with lemon juice to prevent browning. Recipe

Ingredients:

For stuffing: * Apples: 750g (5 peeled and sliced) * Lemon juice: 1 Tbsp * Cinnamon: 1 tsp * Sugar: 5-6 Tbsp * All-purpose flour: 3 Tbsp * Vanilla essence: 1 tsp * Butter: 2 Tbsp (for dotting)

For crust: * All-purpose flour: 2 cups * Vegetable oil: ½ cup * Chilled milk: ¼ cup * Salt: ½ tsp

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius on bake mode.
  2. Mix apples with all other ingredients for the stuffing (except butter) and keep aside.
  3. Mix together the milk and oil and add it to the flour and salt mixture. Mix with a fork and in the end, bring together with your hands. Do not overwork.
  4. Divide the dough into two parts. Roll one part between two pieces of parchment paper. Line the greased pie dish (8 inch) with it. Put the stuffing and dot it with butter.
  5. Roll the other part of the dough and make a lattice as shown in the video. Wash with a milk and sugar mix.
  6. Bake for 55 minutes to an hour. (At about 25 minutes cover loosely with a piece of aluminum foil).
  7. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.

Cooking tips:

  • Coat the apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Do not overwork the dough.
  • Add a little flour to the apple mixture to prevent the juice from overflowing.
  • Use a baking tray under the pie to catch any juices that may spill over.
  • If the top of the pie is browning too quickly, cover it loosely with a piece of aluminum foil.
  • The pie is done when the crust is golden brown and the juices are bubbling.
