Aate ka Halwa

Aate ka Halwa

What makes this dish special

Aate ka Halwa is a traditional Indian dessert that is simple to make but rich in flavor. It is made with whole wheat flour, ghee, sugar, and water, and is often garnished with nuts. This dish is perfect for special occasions or as a comforting treat on a cold day. The key to making a good Aate ka Halwa is to roast the flour properly until it turns aromatic and golden brown. This gives the halwa a nutty flavor and a smooth texture. It is important to stir the mixture continuously to avoid forming lumps.

Recipe

Ingredients: * Whole wheat flour: 1/2 cup * Sugar: 1/2 cup * Desi ghee: 1/4 cup * Water: 1 cup * Diced almonds for garnishing

Instructions: 1. In a kadai, add ghee and put on medium flame. 2. Add the wheat flour, keep stirring continuously keeping the flame on medium. 3. Keep roasting this mixture, stirring, till the flour turns aromatic and turns golden brown. 4. At this stage, turn the flame to low, add the water and, quickly, stir the mixture vigorously, to avoid forming lumps. 5. As soon as the water dries up, add the sugar. All this time, keep stirring. 6. Once the sugar has melted completely, keep roasting for about 30 more seconds. 7. Now, turn off the flame, plate the halwa, garnish with the almonds and serve piping hot!

Tips: * The quantity of ghee can be increased a little, but this is kind of a guilt free recipe with less ghee.

Architecture Tip

"Usually the height of the houses or the flats is about 10 feet and the beam depth is 2 feet. Which means the bottom of the beam is usually at 8 feet from the ground level. So we recommend to all our clients that we put the doors at the beam bottom." There are two benefits to this: it looks aesthetically elegant and it saves a lot of time in construction.
