Chili Aloo

What makes this dish special

Chili Aloo is a tasty and spicy dish that can be served as a main course or as an evening snack. It is a popular dish with children and is easy to make. The potatoes are boiled, peeled, cut into cubes, and deep-fried until golden brown. The onions are cut into quarters and the leaves are separated. The capsicum is cut into squares. The garlic is finely chopped and the green chilies are slit lengthwise. The dish is cooked in a pan with oil, green chilies, garlic, onions, and potatoes. The sauces are added and the cornflour is sprinkled on top. The salt and red chili powder are added and mixed well. The capsicum is added at the end and given a quick toss. The dish is served hot with paratha or as an evening snack.

Recipe

Ingredients: * Potatoes- 4 medium (boiled, peeled, cut into big cubes and deep fried till light golden) * Onion- 1 medium (cut into 8 quarters and each leaf separated) * Capsicum - 1 small (cut into squares) * Garlic - 1 tsp finely chopped * Green chilies - 3 to 4(slit length wise) * Oil - 2 Tbsp * Cornflour - 1 Tbsp * Soy sauce - 1 tsp * Vinegar - 1 tsp * Tomato ketchup - 1 Tbsp heaped * Red chili powder - 1 tsp * Salt - to taste

Method: 1. In a pan, take the oil and put it on medium - high flame. 2. Once hot, add the green chilies, followed by the garlic. 3. Saute for a minute and then add the onions. 4. Fry till translucent and add the potatoes. 5. Add all the sauces, mix well and Sprinkle the cornflour. 6. Saute for about a minute, add the salt and red chili powder and mix well. 7. In the end, add the capsicum, give it a quick toss and your Chili Aloo is ready. 8. Serve it hot with paratha or as an evening snack.

Tip: When cooking the onions and capsicum, keep them crunchy and don't let them get too soft.
